Independent Consulting

As an independent consultant, I work closely with visionary leaders in tech and the social impact sector. Currently, I support executives and C-suite teams at startups, foundations, and nonprofits. My areas of expertise are in scaling innovation, operations, and strategy. The unique value-add I bring to my clients is my strong product sense. This means leveraging a deep understanding of the problem space with a bias for simplicity in the solution.

Coming from a startup background, I can say that smaller, more agile organizations have an advantage because the intrinsic complexity of that space is less (your mileage may vary). Unlike large, matrix organizations, startups have fewer people to deal with and people are generally incentivized toward a common goal.

For my non-startup clients, I enjoy helping them embrace their complexity as a lever to inform simplicity. The challenge is knowing when analysis is sufficient and making the decision. I'll save that for another piece. Across my consulting practice, I can say that there has often been a simple model on the other side of all that complexity that enables effective action. When you string those actions together in an iterative way, progress is made.
